Prayer of the Paschal Mystery

Prayer of the Paschal Mystery

O Christ, my Bridegroom,

You are lifted high upon the tree,

a throne of wood, a crown of thorns,

yet my heart sees only majesty.

Your whisper is mercy:

“Father, forgive them”.

Your gaze is promise:

“Today you will be with Me in Paradise”.

Your blood, poured out, is wine for my soul;

Your side, opened, is a garden spring.

The veil is torn;

I run into the Holy of Holies,

into the arms of Love.

Night gives way to dawn

“He is not here; He is risen”.

In the garden of my heart You call my name,

and I, like Mary, turn to You alone.

Stay with me, Lord

set my heart aflame on the road,

feed me with the Bread of Your risen Presence.

Until the end of all ages,

be my Light, my Song, my Secret Fire.
