Top Eight for 2022

Good morning y'all!  You know that most of what I write is for me with the hopes it also helps you.  Sometimes I find myself having only written this down.  That's the only action I take on it.

I'd like to change that pattern so periodically, maybe once a quarter, I would like to pull out my top 10 items to reflect on and possibly set down to take action on.

So here goes:

  1. Write your own Magnificat
    1. Let me write a new one:
      1. My spirit is a living flame for the Lord.  I surrender all and gain all in return for my God fills me with life.  My God is a gracious shepherd who seeks me out and makes straight my path.  O Lord, I praise your holy face!
  2. Sanctifying My Life:
    1. I am now sanctifying my day with morning and evening prayers from the Liturgy of the Hours.
    2. Next I need to consider how I will sanctify my week.
  3. 60/60:
    1. Yikes, starting this on 3/29/2022.  I will let you know how this goes.
  4. In the School of the Holy Spirit:
    1. "'Inspire me in all my decisions, and never let me neglect any of your inspirations.'...At more critical moments, when we are faced with important choices, or when we have the impression that our life with our Lord is limping a little and needs revivifying, it can be very good to to on retreat for a few days and pray more intensely for the light of the Holy Spirit." page 29.
    2. I think we often forget, and even me when I preach so much on it, that we need space in our days.  We need space in our lives.  Our brains need space.  Our souls need space to expand.  Give the Sacred space to be Sacred!
    3. 1 and 2 from above are taken from that post.  I need more space in my day.  Arghhh.  I don't want more space in my day though as there is so much I want to do and if I leave space in my day I can't do it all.  Arghhh.
    4. I am going to think more about this.
  5. In the School of the Holy Spirit:
    1. "...if one give himself wholly to good works and the other applies himself entirely to purifying his heart and cutting away what there is in it that opposes grace, this second person will achieve perfection twice as quickly as the first." page 76.
    2. I have been working on this and this is a great reminder to continue working on this.
  6. How to Reset:
    1. When you need a reset, stop what you are doing.  Assess.  What aren't you doing right now because you are so busy that you should be doing specifically because you are so busy.  Eating right will help to support your stress levels.  A full night of sleep will help to support your stress levels.  Prayer, prayer will replenish you in so many ways.
    2. I have really gotten better about this as far as my prayer life.
    3. But wayyy worse as far as food.  I need to streamline more in my life because I think I am reaching decision fatigue points.
  7. HFH - Fridays
    1. I am a lot more cognizant of Fridays. Do you think TGIF was created in response to the Catholic practices of Fridays?
      1. It covers using the Lord's name in vain.
      2. It is being thankful/joyful it is Friday instead of being sorrowful.
      3. etc...
  8. Habits for Holiness - Notes
    1. "Can I take a moment and prayerfully reflect on ways in which I am already making regular sacrifices out of fidelity to Christ?" page 86

    2. I think this is an interesting practice.  My tithing is one form of sacrifice that I haven't stopped to reflect on.  I do it out of obedience and kind of leave it there.  I don't pray for it that it might be used for God's greater glory.  I don't consider what sacrifice it is.  I must ponder this...

    3. I give our tithe online through a scheduled service.  I receive an email right before it is deducted.  I now forward this email to beardo as a reminder that we need to pray for our tithe.

This was supposed to be a Top Ten... but I have Eight so viola!
