StoryTeller - Hard Things

Those people you dream of being or being like.  Those that are further along in their story, they did hard things to get there.  I listen to them talk, all of them, about how people ask them how did they become so quickly.  And every single one asks, "this was quick?"

We look at people who seemingly overnight become big.  But they've been blogging for 15 years.  They've been running their YouTube channel for 7 years.  They've been slogging through the shit for years.  YEARS.  They got up and put together a YouTube video every week for years with hardly anyone watching.  That is HARD!

That athlete that gets a contract right out of college.  Do you know how many thousands of hours it took?

Where you want to go... that's on the other side of grueling work.  Hard work.  Work that sucks.

The military has a saying, "Embrace the Suck."

David Goggins says that the main reason he can do all the hard things is that he challenges himself to do the hard things.

So for the month, I am challenging myself to do one hard thing a day.  Sunday, it was a 1 mile run at 5:30 p.m.  Why was this hard?  Because it was 5:30 p.m.  That's when I am trying to relax and not do anything.  Monday, I ran the hills.  Bruh.

What are your hard things?

  • Making that call
  • Writing that first post
  • Making a video despite a following
  • Wanting to procrastinate
  • Ending I'll start tomorrow
  • Not eating those foods
  • Engaging the service people helping you
  • Asking for help
Who are you when no one is looking?
