Help with your Path

So in The 12 Week Year there is a bit of talk about lag and lead measures.  Lag measures are the results of what you want.  These are your goals.  For example, I want to lose 20 pounds.  The results lag behind the actions that you take to make them happen.  You lead with activities that make the lag measures happen.  In our example, your lead measure might be to stop eating a pint of ice cream every meal.

Seriously.  Did you read my last post?  I have a problem.

Anyhow...  During my bible reading this morning, I had a hrm moment.  The other day I wrote about acting faith and trusting the process.  Basically that if you know your why behind your goals, lag measures, that you will create a plan to achieve those using lead measures.

Aha, see, I do have a point.  Hopefully this is coming together into a cohesive thought.  Going from the trusting the process, trusting yourself, and taking a step out in faith, can we gain more insight from Psalm 23?

"And He will make straight your paths" is the scripture we were looking at in the previous post.  So let's break this down and see if we can find some further help here.

  1. "I lack nothing"
    1. Stop second guessing the process
    2. You got this as is.  You don't need a different plan.  You don't need a new gadget or gizmo.  Just trust.
  2. "Lie down in green pastures"
    1. Are you refreshing your soul with nature?
    2. Like seriously bro, have you seen the research on what natural light and fresh air does for the body and regenerative systems?
  3. "Leads me beside quiet waters"
    1. Unplug and just be.  No technology.  No music.  No audio books.  No podcasts.
      1. If you know me, you KNOW I'm preaching to myself here.
  4. "He refreshes my soul"
    1. Dude, right now, in the moment, there isn't one thing I need more than to refresh my soul.
    2. The stress of the pandemic, the stress of the BLM, the stress of the Nation's unemployment rate each one of us needs to refresh our souls.
    3. What refreshes your soul?
      1. Nothing on your phone does.
      2. No shopping does.
      3. Nothing on your computer does.
      4. Immediately remove anything like that from your list.  If you disagree with me, let me know because I would love to challenge that thinking!
  5. "The right paths"
    1. What are your thoughts on this?
    2. We went over this with the previous post, but right paths...
      1. Are you on the path you should be or are you on the path you feel obligated to be on?
      2. Are you trusting your path?  Are you struggling with indecision or second guessing yourself?
  6. "Darkest valley"
    1. You are either heading into a dark time, in a dark time, or coming out of a dark time.
    2. Darkest valley doesn't mean you are doing anything wrong, it means you are alive.
    3. Your habits are what lead you out of dark times.  Your habits are what keep you on your path even when it is so dark that you can't make out your path.
  7. "Your rod and your staff"
    1. rod, hehehe
    2. staff, tittter

Where are you getting your inspiration right now?
